SPINACH

Spinach is a very versatile vegetable and can be eaten raw or cooked.
What are the Possible Health benefits of consuming spinach?
** The possible health benefits of consuming spinach include improving blood glucose control in diabetics, lowering the risk of cancer, lowering blood pressure , improving bone health, lowering the risk of developing asthma and more.

** Diabetes management: spinach contains an antioxidant known as alpha-lipoic acid, which has been shown to lower glucose levels, increase insulin sensitivity and prevent oxidative stress-induced changes in patients with diabetes. Studies on alpha-lipoic acid have also shown decreases in peripheral neuropathy and/or autonomic neuropathy in diabetics.

**Cancer prevention: Spinach and other green vegetables contain chlorophyll which has shown to be effective at blocking the carcinogenic effects of heterocyclic amines which are generated when grilling foods at a high temperature.

**Asthma prevention: The risks for developing asthma are lower in people who consume a high amount of certain nutrients. One of these nutrients is beta-carotene, of which spinach is an excellent source. Apricots, broccoli, cantaloupe, pumpkin and carrots are also rich sources of beta-carotene.

**Lowering blood pressure: because of its high potassium content, spinach is recommended to those with high blood pressure to negate the effects of sodium in the body. A low potassium intake may be just as big of a risk factor in developing high blood pressure as a high sodium intake.
Other high potassium foods include potatoes, tomatoes, lima beans and oranges.
** Bone health: Low intakes of vitamin K have been associated with a higher risk for bone fracture. Adequate vitamin K consumption is important for good health, as it acts as a modifier of bone matrix proteins, improves calcium absorption and may reduce urinary excretion of calcium.
**Promotes regularity: Spinach is high in fiber and water content, both of which help to prevent constipation and promote a healthy digestive tract.
**Healthy skin and hair: Spinach is high in vitamin A, which is necessary for sebum production to keep hair moisturized. Vitamin A is also necessary for the growth of all bodily tissues, including skin and hair. Spinach and other leafy greens high in vitamin C are imperative for the building and maintenance of collagen, which provides structure to skin and hair.
Iron-deficiency is a common cause of hair loss, which can be prevented by an adequate intake of iron-rich foods, like spinach.

Nutritional breakdown of spinach

One cup of raw spinach contains 27 calories, 0.86 grams of protein, 30 milligrams of calcium, 0.81 grams of iron, 24 milligrams of magnesium, 167 milligrams of potassium, 2813 IUs of Vitamin A and 58 micrograms of folate.
Most of the calories in spinach come from protein.
Spinach is one of the best sources of dietary potassium, weighing in at 839 mg per cup (cooked). To compare, one cup of banana has about 539 mg of potassium.
A lack of iron in your diet can effect how efficiently your body uses energy. Spinach is a great non-heme source of iron, along with lentils, tuna and eggs.
Spinach contains approximately 250mg of calcium per cup (cooked), however it is less easily absorbed than calcium from sources like dairy products. Spinach has a high oxalate content, which binds to calcium deeming it unavailable for use in our bodies.
When it's all said and done, our bodies can only absorb about 5% of the calcium in spinach (about 12.5mg per cup) whereas the absorption rate from calcium in milk is about 28% (300mg of calcium in one cup of milk at a bio availability level of 28% would provide 84 mg per cup).
Spinach is also one of the best sources of dietary magnesium, which is necessary for energy metabolism, maintaining muscle and nerve function, heart rhythm, a healthy immune system and maintaining blood pressure. Magnesium also plays a part in hundreds more biochemical reactions that occur in the body.
Those with digestive disorders, alcoholic, older adults and individuals taking medications such as antibiotics and diuretics are more likely to have a magnesium deficiency and should consume more leafy greens.
Spinach also contains vitamin K, fiber, phosphorus and thiamine.

WAYS TO DETOXIFY YOUR BODY

Feeling sluggish or out of sync?
Consult your doctor before using any health treatment — including herbal supplements and natural remedies — and tell your doctor if you have a serious medical condition or are taking any medications. The information presented here is for educational purposes only and is in no way intended as substitute for medical counseling.
Struggling with skin problems, aches and pains, or digestive problems? Can't seem to lose weight? It might be time for a BODY DETOX.

DETOXIFICATION is about resting, cleaning and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients.

Detoxifying can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.

How does detoxification work?
Basically, detoxification means cleaning the blood. This is done by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. The body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin. However, when this system is compromised, impurities aren't properly filtered and every cell in the body is adversely affected.
A detox program can help the body's natural cleansing process by:
1. Resting the organs through fasting;
2. Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;
3. Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys and skin;
4. Improving circulation of the blood; and
5. Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

"Detoxification works because it addresses the needs of individual cells, the smallest units of human life.
DO I NEED A DETOX?
suggestion are that everyone should detox at least once a year. However,
I cautions against detoxing for nursing mothers, children, and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or tuberculosis. Consult your health care practitioner if you have questions about whether detoxing is right for you.
Detoxing for symptoms such as:
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Sluggish elimination
  • Irritated skin
  • Allergies
  • Low-grade infections
  • Puffy eye or bags under the eyes
  • Bloating
  • Menstrual problems
  • Mental confusion
HOW DO I START TO DETOX MY BODY?
Let us first, lighten up your toxin load. ELIMINATE  alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products (cleansers, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and substitute with natural alternatives.
Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the "adrenaline rush" to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver. Yoga, Oigong and meditation are simple and effective ways to relieve stress by resetting your physical and mental reactions to the inevitable stress life will bring.

Which detox program is right for you?

There are many detoxification programs and detox recipes, depending on your individual needs. Many programs follow a 7-day schedule because, "it takes the body time to clean the blood." Most program involves fasting on liquids for two days, followed by a carefully-planned five-day detox diet to allow the digestive system to rest. I recommends a 3-7 day juice fast (drinking only fresh fruit and vegetable juices and water) as an effective way to release toxins.

Here are our five favorite detox diets:
1. Simple Fruit and Veggie Detox
2. Smoothie cleanse
3. Juice Cleanse
4. Sugar Detox
5. Hypoallergenic Detox

After a detoxification program, you can cleanse your body daily with these diet, supplements and lifestyle practices:

1. Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.

2. Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle, and drinking green tea.

3. Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.

4. Drink at least two quarts of water a day.

5. Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.

6. Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions.

7. Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for 30 minutes.

8. Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration.

9. Dry- brush  your skin  or try detox foot spas / foot baths to remove toxins through your pores. Special brushes are available at natural products stores.

10. What is the most important way to detoxify? "Exercise," says Bennett. "Yoga or jump-roping are good. One hour every day." Also try Qigong, a martial-arts based exercise system that includes exercises specifically for detoxifying or cleansing, as well as many other exercises with specific health benefits.

RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE DETOX FOOT BATH

Use a simple container from your home that's large enough for both of your feet to fit comfortably.

To prepare a detox foot bath, first visit your local health and nutrition store to purchase an herb packet specifically for foot detoxification. If you can't get to a health food store, or can't find the right herb packet , you can try common ingredients found in your own cabinets, such as tea, dried hot peppers, garlic, ginger or dried citrus fruit peels. Tea (green tea, regular tea or any of the specialty herb teas) is especially effective, and can also help eliminate problematic foot odor caused by toxins. Experiment with a combination of any or all of these ingredients.

Then, mix your store-bought or home-made herb concoction with very hot water (about the same temperature as a hot tub) in your foot bath. Soak your feet for 25 minutes -- relax and enjoy

Look radiant in 24 hours, luminous in 48, and positively sparkly in 72. This step-by-step detoxification plan from "The Little Book of Detox Tips for People on the Go" includes one-day, two-day or three-day variations on the natural body cleanse and includes seven detox recipes.

TRIM ESSENTIALS HCG DIET WEIGHTLOSS SYSTEM

This is the first step to achieving the body you truly want...

This is the revolutionary "HCG Diet Weightloss System" by Trim Essentials and you were selected to engage in this new and exciting experience. We understand that some persons may be curious and some skeptical about this weightloss revolution that to some may seem "too good to be true" and as Dr. Simeon's (it's innovator) coins it "the last diet". Please see our frequently asked questions database below and send us an email if you don't find your answer here.

**Also for Android users please send your phone number to be included in our whatsapp (876) 864-3922 IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION.
What is HCG?HCG is an acronym for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. It is a natural hormone found in very high levels in pregnant women. It works by tapping into the abnormal fat reserves to provide fuel for both mother and baby, if not enough calories are consumed.

How is HCG incorporated into a diet ?
TRIM ESSENTIALS HCG Weight loss Systems comes in 4 forms: Tablets, Pellets, Liquid Drops and Injections. The last 2 being our fastest moving products due to their effectiveness.

The liquid weight loss drops are placed under the tongue so it absorbs directly into the blood stream to ensure that it isn't broken down, diluted or destroyed in the digestion process.

The HCG is combined with a very low calorie diet (VLCD). HCG triggers the metabolism to attack the abnormal fat, causing the fat to be mobilized and burned up by the body rapidly, at the rate of 1-2 pounds per day, without exercise!

How is this going to shed my stubborn fat?
Dr. Simeons’ research concluded that there are three types of body fat: structural fat, which protects the internal organs and provides cushioning; normal fat, which is freely available to the body for fuel; and abnormal fat, which is locked away and forgotten. Over time, extra calories become stored as abnormal fat, which is then overlooked by the part of the brain that controls our fat storage. Locked away and forgotten, this abnormal fat is then unobtainable to the body, no matter how much you diet and exercise to get rid of it. The hCG diet drops, combined with the specific VLC diet, forces the body to burn up these abnormal fat stores. HCG triggers the diencephalon region of the brain to use abnormal fat for the body’s daily caloric needs by instructing your body to use your stored fat in trouble areas (i.e. hips, legs, stomach, buttocks and arms) first, as energy, rather than burning your good fat and muscle. This process also allows your body to release stored toxins. HCG is also muscle preserving. Therefore, the weight lost is all abnormal body fat!

...And does it really work?
Yes...Combined with a specific diet as outlined in our program, the HCG no longer sits as a docile hormone in the body but rather begins to burn metabolized fat stored on the stomach and other difficult to lose areas (thighs, stomach, etc) and releases it into the body as energy (a reported positive effect).

How safe is this product?
Because HCG is a natural hormone produced in the body during pregnancy in women and puberty in boys, our bodies are naturally built to accommodate it.

What are the side effects?

There are no reported side effects from the thousands of persons who have been on this diet and experienced its success. However a few common experiences are listed below:

- A few persons have experienced mild to moderate headaches during the first days of "phase 2- VLCD" of the program which doesn't usually extend beyond day 2 or 3.
- There have been reported cases of increased fertility and sexual desire, as such we recommend that additional contraception be used during this program

Useful facts on Tilapia

Health Benefits of Tilapia
Tilapia is a delicious, lean white fish that has a wide variety of associated health benefits, including its ability to help reduce weight, boost overall metabolism, speed up repair and growth throughout the body, build strong bones, reduce the risk of various chronic diseases, lower triglyceride levels, prevent arthritis, protect against cognitive decline, prevent various types of cancer, reduce signs of aging, boost the health of your hair, and strengthen your immune system.
The name tilapia applies to a very broad range of fish, more than a hundred species, in fact, but they are actually a form of cichlid fish, one of the most diverse varieties of fish in the world. They have risen in importance in recent years, and now represent the fifth most popular and consumed fish in America. It is a mild, white fish that is easy to farm, affordable to buy, and doesn’t have the sometimes unattractive “fishy” taste that many people dislike about seafood. Experts predict that tilapia will continue to increase in importance and will likely become the most significant seafood product of the century in terms of human consumption. Since they are a lean and short-lived fish, they have lower levels of toxins like mercury than many other fish, which is one of the strongest arguments in support of eating tilapia.

Knowledge of tilapia’s attractive taste and health benefits stretch all the way back to the ancient Egyptians, who actually had a hieroglyph representing this important fish. They are native to the Nile and North Africa, but they have been extensively farmed throughout Asia as well, and are now a “global” species. Some countries consider them to be invasive species, as they are very  adaptive and can unbalance fragile ecosystems if they are accidentally introduced. There were more than 1.5 million tons of tilapia farmed and harvested in the US alone in 2005, and that number is expected to at least double by 2015.

As food, they are highly prized, but somewhat controversial, due to the fact that they are natural scavengers of detritus and toxic materials in the water they live in. Environmentally, this is beneficial, as they purify water and reduce oxygen waste, but as a culinary attribute, this is not always a good thing. You should only buy tilapia from established and reputable sources who farm these fish in clean, healthy environments. They can be eaten in a variety of dishes and soups, and since they are well-known throughout the world, they have become an essential culinary aspect of many cultural cuisines. Let’s look a bit closer at some of the nutritional components of tilapia that make it such an important element in our diet.

Nutritional Value of Tilapia
Tilapia is highly valued as a seafood source due to its many beneficial qualities, which are attributed to its wealth of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, including significant amounts of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, phosphorous, potassium, vitamin B12, niacin, vitamin B6, and pantothenic acid. Below you will find a more details explanation of the health benefits of tilapia.

Health Benefits of Tilapia
Growth and Development: One of the most important aspects of tilapia is its impressive protein content, making up more than 15% of our daily requirement in a single serving. Protein is an essential part of our diet, particularly animal proteins, because they can be enzymatically broken down into composite amino acids and reassembled into usable proteins in the human body. Protein is directly linked to proper growth   and development of organs, membranes, cells, and muscles. It is particularly important that children consume adequate amounts of protein to ensure that they develop properly. They also are necessary for muscle growth, cellular repair, and proper metabolic activity of numerous organ systems.
Weight Loss: Unlike many other animal products, fish like tilapia are high in protein but low in calories and fats. This can be a good way to reduce your caloric intake, while still giving your body all of the necessary nutrients it needs to function properly. Fish is often turned to as a dietary option for people trying to lose weight, without starving themselves with crash diets.

Bone Health: One of the most prominent minerals found in tilapia is phosphorous, which is an essential mineral for human health, as it is a vital part of the development and growth of bone matter. It is also a necessary element in the maintenance of the teeth and nails, keeping them strong and durable well into your old age. Phosphorous can help prevent osteoporosis, which is the degradation of bone mineral density often suffered by people as they age.
Prevents Prostate Cancer:  Like many types of fish, tilapia has a very high content of selenium. The health benefits of selenium are impressive, and are antioxidant in nature. Studies have directly linked selenium intake to a reduction in the risk of prostate cancer, as well as various heart conditions. Additional research is being done on the impact of tilapia’s selenium on other types of cancer. Antioxidants like selenium are famed for their ability to reduce free radical activity in the body, thereby lowering the chances of oxidative stress on all the organ systems, and the mutation of healthy cells into cancerous ones.

Heart Health: Tilapia is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been directly linked to lowering cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels in the human cardiovascular system. Omega-3 fatty acids neutralize the impact of omega-6 fatty acids. There is some controversy about fish in general having high levels of dangerous LDL cholesterol, but studies have shown that the beneficial effects of the omega-3 fatty acids outweigh the risks of omega-6 fatty acids also found in tilapia. Omega-3 fatty acids help to prevent atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and strokes. The potassium found in tilapia is also a vasodilator, and reduces blood pressure, which is an additional boost to heart health.

Brain Health: Both the potassium and omega-3 fatty acids found in tilapia have been connected to boosting brain power and increasing neurological function. Potassium increases oxygenation to the brain and is essential for proper fluid balance throughout the body, which facilitates nervous response and nutrient deposition in appropriate parts of the body, including the brain.

Premature Aging: Selenium is known as an antioxidant, and it can actually rejuvenate or stimulate vitamin E and C, both of which improve the quality and health of your skin. Therefore, the more than 20% of daily selenium that tilapia provides makes it a very good food source for improving the health and appearance of your skin by stopping the free radical damage. This means a reduction in wrinkles, sagging, age spots, and other signs of aging.
Immune System and Thyroid Function: A final beneficial application of selenium is for the immune system. It can help boost the activity of white blood cells, which defend the body against toxins and foreign bodies. Furthermore, selenium plays a vital role in the regulation of the thyroid gland, which controls many of our hormonal functions. Proper functioning the thyroid gland guarantees a well-balance metabolism and proper organ function and chemical reactions throughout the body.
A Few Words of Caution: As mentioned earlier, since tilapia have a natural penchant for clearing up toxins in their habitats, some of those toxins can be absorbed into their bodies. Therefore, it is important to purchase tilapia farmed from US fisheries or from areas of the world where strict regulation of fishery quality is followed. Also, since there are a significant amount of omega-6 fatty acids, people with preexisting heart conditions should be careful about eating too much tilapia. Other than that, enjoy this delicious little whitefish!
